Q. Why do I get duplicate e-mails?
A. Some ISP's distribute e-mail using both POP and SMTP, for example: Demon Internet. The way this works is that every time you connect to your ISP, they detect your connection and SMTP your mail to you. If at the same time you make a POP collection then you may receive duplicate mail.
The way to combat this is to block out the SMTP from your ISP. This is done by clicking on Gateway, Advanced Setup, and selecting the Bindings tab. Then into the SMTP field, enter the IP address of the LAN card on the Machine MailGate is running on. This will only allow MailGate to accept SMTP coming from the LAN card, not via the ISP connection.
