Q. How can I prevent auto-replies looping?
A. Auto replies can be set against any mailbox in MailGate. When using this feature, if the auto-reply message is bounced back for some reason, a loop can occur. This can be prevented by disabling the auto-reply from within the mailbox, and creating an auto-reply rule in the Mail Manager Extension:

  1. Double-click on the Mail Manager Extension (under the 'Extensions' branch on the main MailGate window).

  2. Click the 'Add' button.

  3. In the 'Name' field, type 'Auto Reply for <e-mail address>'.

  4. In the 'Recipient' field, type in the e-mail address of the user the auto-reply is for.

  5. In the 'Field' field, type in 'Subject'.

  6. Set the drop-down menu to 'Does not match'.

  7. In the field beneath, type in '*#AUT*'.

  8. Set the 'Action #1' drop-down menu to 'Create Message'.

  9. Click on the 'Settings' button.

  10. Set the 'Subject' field to '#AUT'.

  11. Check the 'Make reply' box.

  12. Click on the 'text/plain' button, and type in the auto reply message.

  13. Click OK.

  14. Click OK to apply the new rule.
